Dressing the Loom

Wed. Aug. 1, 2007

Jane agreed to show us how to weave - for coffee and cake.
She spent the afternoon Aug. 1 with
Linda, Sarah, Irene and Brian
as the first step.

Jane is enthusiastic about weaving.
The photos don't show her celebratory cheers and dances
as we moved through the process.

Removing old warp

White threads.

Loading spools   Threading
Next we place the spools
and start threading the string through slots and around rollers.

Looking through the warp
This view motivated a celebratory dance
no strings loose - a beautiful sight.

The white pieces will eventually allow for a fringe on the rug.
A few test passes with cotton strips and
It's ready for weaving!

Five people for five hours - usually takes 4 teaching sessions!
